The desire for a more convenient, environmentally conscious projector led Sony to introduce the world’s first 3LCD projector incorporating a laser light source. The projector uses fewer resources by eliminating the need for replacement lamps, improving energy efficiency, and containing no mercury, all without compromising brightness or vibrant colors.

A resource-light, lamp-free design

Most projectors are illuminated by a lamp that fades over a relatively short period of time, which contributes to lamp waste. In contrast, this projector's laser light source last significantly longer with up to 20,000(*1) hours compared to conventional lamp projectors, in which lamps need to be replaced after around 3,000 hours. Other advances are found in the optical system, where the BrightEra 3LCD panels have improved energy efficiency and durability. The projector is also equipped with an equally durable filter system. Together, these advances enable 20,000 hours(*1) of operation without maintenance or part replacement. With no need for lamp replacement, there is no waste, which saves significant resources and costs.

*1 Approximate time until brightness has declined to half the original level. Only a guideline; actual time varies by conditions and environment of use. Assumes that the filter is used in environments with a dust density of 0.03 mg/m3.

All-around energy efficiency

Energy-saving features have evolved further with the implementation of laser light source. For example, brightness control in the Auto Light Dimming mode reduces energy consumption by up to 95%.During projection, Auto Picture Mode automatically adjusts light output to fit the projected picture, further reducing the energy consumed during use. When you need to cut off the picture temporarily, light output can be completely deactivated to minimize energy consumption. And because the projector starts up in a speedy six seconds(*4) and shuts down almost instantly, no energy or time is wasted on warming up or cooling down.

Mercury-free laser light source

Conventional projectors rely on lamps containing mercury for their high quality output images and displays. The new laser light source projectors from Sony eliminate any concerns about potential environmental pollution from incorrect lamp disposal while maintaining the high levels of brightness and screen resolution you have come to expect from conventional projectors.

Vibrant colors and an array of environmentally conscious features are made possible by Sony’s laser projectors.
