The 105 Summer Festival is one of the most popular music events of the year, organized by Radio 105 and hosted in major Italian city squares. Each stop is a large-scale open-air show combining live music, entertainment, and top-tier technical production. For this edition, technical infrastructure was managed by the service company DDM, based in Lanciano. The main lighting console, an Avolites D9 215, was selected by lighting designer Fabio Palo and supplied by our partner Moonlight. This console formed the heart of the lighting control system, delivering reliable performance and creative flexibility. A Tiger Touch II, also from Avolites, was used as the backup console.
As a touring festival made up of a series of free live concerts, the 105 Summer Festival brings some of the biggest Italian and international artists to the stage. Given its scale, the lighting setup had to meet the highest standards and it did.
The challenge
The challenge was clear: to meet the diverse and specific needs of a wide range of artists, all within extremely tight programming schedules. To achieve this, a base lighting setup was created, leaving room for real-time adaptations that would remain consistent with the distinctive visual identity of Radio 105. This approach made it essential to rely on a state-of-the-art lighting console: powerful, versatile, and equipped with a backup system to ensure uninterrupted operation under any circumstances.
The solution
A modular and high-performance lighting system was operated under the direction of Fabio Palo, who opted for the Avolites D9-215 console Avolites’ flagship model, renowned for its programming power and live tour reliability. With support from Audio Effetti’s Product Specialists, the console was configured optimally for each venue, complete with customized presets and ongoing firmware updates.
For backup, the Avolites Tiger Touch was used another successful model from the London-based brand featuring 10 motorized and programmable main playback faders. Employing a backup console is standard practice for ensuring operational continuity and security during high-profile events. In the event of a technical issue or main console reboot, the backup console can be manually activated to keep the show running or used in tracking backup mode, following every command from the main console in real time.
Both Avolites consoles were installed at the FOH control position.

The results
Lighting designer Fabio Palo commented on the outcome achieved with the Avolites consoles: “The incredibly powerful D9-215 allowed us to carry out smooth and dynamic lighting programming, tailored to each artist, with no technical downtime throughout the tour. Setup times were also optimized, thanks largely to its flexibility.”
Regarding the Tiger Touch, he added:“This year, we decided to pair the Tiger Touch with the main console: compact yet powerful, it proved perfect for handling the backup.”
In conclusion, the 105 Summer Festival continues to be a benchmark event for the Italian music scene, thanks in part to the collaboration between industry professionals. The use of a prestigious product like the Avolites D9-215, alongside its “younger sister” the Tiger Touch, is a great source of pride for us at Audio Effetti.
