For special types of applications in fixed and mobile installations, the Harmonic Design hd PLC Cardioid expansion module is available. Its purpose is to effectively attenuate the mid-low range frequency components, back-radiated by the column speakers, by up to 20 dB.
The hd PLC-optimized directivity of the Line Array thus significantly reduces the susceptibility to speaker feedback in the mid-low range and, at the same time, improves speech intelligibility, since no sound energy is diffusely radiated into unwanted areas.
The hd PLC module is mounted directly on the back of the hd PL-Series LineArray Stick and driven via a separate amplifier channel. Cardioid or hypercardioid characteristics can be easily recovered via the corresponding DSP preset.
In addition to reducing back-radiated sound energy, the hd PLC Cardioid module also extends the sound pressure in the mid-low range towards the audience; this makes the sound even more incisive and dynamic while maintaining the same length of the Line Array. A speakON is located on the bottom plate for connecting inputs, while a 35 mm flange allows standalone use as a main speaker on a tripod.
