Very compact, powerful and easy to transport passive subwoofer with bass-reflex port. It features a specially designed 12" woofer with a 3" voice coil that allows a wide linear excursion. Through the ventilation at the magnetic pole core, the heat development of the voice coil is dissipated optimally, thus achieving a high power handling capacity of 400 WRMS and 800 W peak. The lower heat development also means greater reliability and reduced thermal stress on the voice coil; the result is excellent dynamics and dry, controlled bass reproduction at incredible sound pressure.
It does not have an internal passive cross-over, so the frequency cut must be made by the Harmonic Design system power amplifiers or by an external electronic cross-over; up to a maximum of 160 Hz (with a slope of 24 dB/oct), it guarantees the best possible transitions between subwoofer and satellite.
The cabinet is made of high-quality plywood, painted to be scratch, impact and weather resistant with a finely textured finish. Two ergonomic carrying handles on the top ensure easy handling.
The front of the subwoofer is protected by a rust-proof steel grille lined with internally glued acoustic foam. An M20 threaded insert on the top of the cabinet allows you to mount a pole to hook another speaker. In addition, four abrasion-resistant rubber feet on the underside ensure a secure footing. hd Sub12 is also available in a handle-less installation version without M20 thread.
It can be used as a "slave" subwoofer in addition to the hd P12 stereo active subwoofer or with all power amplifiers in the Harmonic Design system to ensure reliable and accurate reproduction of low frequencies.
