Yes Tech drives innovation sky-high with the new LED wall at Naples Capodichino Airport

At Naples Capodichino International Airport, an indoor LED wall has been installed by our client G5 Elettronica, using Yes Tech Mwall series panels with a 1.9 mm pixel pitch, designed to display both advertising messages and flight information (FIDS, Flight Information Display System). A total of 72 tiles were used to create a 9 x 2 m. rectangular display of outstanding visual quality, driven by a high-end front-end system based on a Pixelhue X400 media server and a NovaStar VX1000 video controller.

The challenge

G5 Elettronica is a system integrator based in Casalnuovo di Napoli, offering consulting, design, and installation services for professional AV systems.
For this project, the LED wall had to meet specific requirements: it had to be clearly visible from close distances, as it was installed in a busy transit area frequented by large numbers of passengers. In addition, it had to provide anti-glare performance, high energy efficiency, an advanced content control system capable of managing both informational and commercial content, and of course long-term durability and reliability.

The solution

R. De Maio, owner of G5 Elettronica, in collaboration with Audio Effetti’s product specialists, decided to use the Yes Tech P1.9 Mwall, as it fully met the project specifications:

We chose the Yes Tech Mwall because we needed to ensure clear readability even from short distances, which led us to select the 1.9 mm model. We were also impressed by the wide viewing angle and the overall image quality it can deliver. Moreover, since the wall would be mounted, we required lightweight, slim cabinets that would guarantee structural precision and flatness across the entire LED wall, as well as minimal power consumption, since the system would be operating 24/7.”

It’s worth noting that the uniform heat dissipation ensures long-term durability, and the front maintenance access for module, power supply, and receiving card replacement simplifies servicing. Another important aspect is safety: the system meets V-0 fire resistance standards, which is essential in an airport environment.

To manage the content — mainly flight information but also commercial messages — a Pixelhue X400 media server and a NovaStar VX1000 controller were employed.

The media server was selected for its modular input system, capable of handling a variety of external signals, while the VX1000 stood out for its ability to process non-standard signals and scale images to fit the actual dimensions of the LED wall.

The results

The G5 Elettronica project lead concludes:

At the end of the project, we were extremely satisfied with the image quality, which meets the highest standards, and the user-friendliness of the media server, which makes it easy to update the advertising content based on the current partner. Finally, and just as important, was the speed of installation, especially considering the difficulties of working in an airport: at night, in restricted areas, and with continuous foot traffic.”
