DSPs allow signal management with a precision impossible to achieve in the analog domain: advanced parametric filters, intelligent limiters, complex routing, delays, custom equalization curves, and presets recallable in real time. In fixed installations and complex systems, this flexibility allows for "surgical" optimization of the system and its adaptation to the acoustics of the room.
Analog processors remain useful for immediate and simple interventions, such as correcting basic equalization, managing levels and dynamics on the fly, reducing feedback, or applying essential filters. They are particularly suitable for small traveling musical groups, impromptu live events, multipurpose rooms, schools, and community centers, in other words any situation where a fast and intuitive device is needed, usable even by non-technical guys. In more complex configurations, however, DSP has become the standard for control, reliability, and repeatability.
