Fifty years of innovation is an important milestone, but for Avolites it is above all the starting point for a new evolution. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the historic British manufacturer presents a completely renewed ecosystem that redefines the way shows are designed and managed, where lighting and multimedia content work together. There are three new developments, all with a common goal: to offer lighting designers, programmers and entertainment professionals even more flexible, powerful and integrated tools. The full version of the new Prism software platform makes its debut, the new generation of AvoKey hardware keys arrives, and the Travel Collection is renewed, designed to bring all the power of the Avolites ecosystem also to mobile productions. These innovations represent a significant evolution of the Avolites platform and confirm the company’s commitment to developing increasingly integrated workflows between light and media.

Avolites Prism is the new software platform designed to simplify video content management, offering an intuitive environment for designers and operators even at the beginning of their journey. Although it shares its name with the previous Prism Player, introduced years ago as a preview and encoding tool, Prism today represents a radical evolution: it is no longer a standalone utility, but a complete platform that integrates lighting and media into a single system.

The software is available in three progressive license levels - Prism Zero, Prism One and Prism Plus - to suit every type of production. When connected to Titan via Synergy, Prism brings media control into the Avolites environment, making it possible to combine multimedia content and lighting cues in a single show with a more coherent and fluid workflow.

Prism Player, the first tool in the range, lets you pre-view and encode clips without connecting to a media server. Any imported media file can be played back natively, but to achieve the best possible performance the media manager can convert it to the proprietary AiM codec, capable of playing back up to 16 lossless 4K layers. Prism Player also supports HAP, NotchLC, HDR video, 10-bit color and up to 8 audio channels, with functions such as batch encoding, playlists and preview of already rendered content.

Prism lets you manage up to 16 independent surfaces, each with a maximum of 16 layers, which can be combined through a wide range of blending modes. Pixel map adjustments make it possible to smooth motion, correct color and shape multimedia flows before they reach the rig. The software also simplifies Time Code management, providing a clear list of triggers to synchronize media and lighting with precision.

Dedicated plug-ins are available for Adobe Premiere and After Effects, useful for exporting media files in native format. For those working with real-time inputs, Prism supports hardware capture cards, NDI streams and RTSP inputs.

The visual interface is intuitive, with tools that make media playback, manipulation and pixel mapping a natural extension of lighting design.

Prism’s philosophy is therefore to offer complementary tools that help integrate video into projects and improve the workflow of Ai users, making a traditionally complex discipline more accessible. Prism does not so much simplify the result as the process for achieving it!

AvoKey

AvoKey, the USB-C hardware key that enables Avolites licenses, now integrates lighting and multimedia content. Until now AvoKey unlocked only the Titan software suite, but today the platform becomes more powerful thanks to the new collection, which makes it possible to enable Titan or Prism on any Windows computer, allowing you to design, program or run shows anywhere, with maximum operational flexibility.

While using Titan, support has been added for D3, T3 and Titan Mobile wings, expanding control possibilities and allowing operators to stay in the front line during every show. Integration with D3 Touch has also been introduced, a preconfigured touchscreen designed to remotely control Titan, offering simple and reliable access to the system's main functions even in dynamic operating contexts, and support for Titan web APIs has been added, making it possible to create third-party integrations that can communicate directly with Titan, paving the way for custom workflows and advanced automations.

In addition, AvoKey can unlock more displays and, by the end of the year, also DMX Pixels. DMX Pixels are individually controllable LED pixels via DMX512, Art-Net and sACN: each pixel can use 1 to 4 channels (intensity, RGB, RGBW), allowing video content to be applied to LED strips, panels or pixel-mapping installations and turning light into a dynamic surface perfectly synchronized with the media server. In Prism, the number of DMX Pixels that can be managed depends on the AvoKey key model or the Travel device used.

The new AvoKey collection is USB-C based, features a compact and robust form factor, and is available in three versions: A1+, A2+ and A3+.

A1+ is the entry-level AvoKey. It unlocks 1024 DMX channels within Titan and one video output from Prism with a maximum supported resolution of up to 4K. By the end of the year, A1+ will also support 1024 DMX Pixels, which, when using RGBW pixels, correspond to 8 DMX universes.

A2+ doubles the possibilities, with 2048 DMX channels within Titan and two video outputs from Prism up to a 4K resolution for each display. By the end of the year, A2+ will also support 2048 DMX Pixels, equivalent to 16 DMX universes.

A3+ is the premium AvoKey controller. It supports 4096 DMX channels within Titan and three video outputs from Prism, reaching a maximum resolution of 8K. By the end of the year, A3+ will also support 4096 DMX Pixels, or up to 32 DMX universes.

The new AvoKey key lineup enables both Titan and Prism, but Avolites developed the two applications as separate software because running on dedicated hardware guarantees the best performance and maximum system stability. Each physical device requires its own AvoKey to activate the licenses.

Travel collection

Just like the AvoKey collection, the new products in the Travel line also offer the ability to unlock Titan or Prism on any Windows computer, guaranteeing maximum flexibility for lighting designers on the move. The line is designed for those who need compact and robust tools, while maintaining the same control capabilities as larger systems and offering a workflow consistent with the Avolites ecosystem.

The T1+ model unlocks 1024 DMX channels in Titan, doubling the number of channels compared to the previous T1. In addition to that, it features one Prism video output with support for resolutions up to 4K. By the end of the year, the system will support 1024 DMX Pixels. Compared with the T1 model, additional features have been added: when using Titan, the T1+ supports D3, T3 and Titan Mobile wings. D3 Touch integration has also been included, allowing Titan to be activated remotely via its touchscreen, together with support for Titan web APIs, designed to create third-party integrations that connect directly to Titan. The T1+ has one physical DMX output on an isolated 5-pin XLR connector and uses the computer's network ports (for Art-Net and sACN protocols) and video ports for the other outputs.

The T2+ model replaces the T2, again doubling the DMX channels within Titan to 2048 and providing two Prism display outputs, each with a maximum resolution of 4K. Soon, T2+ will support 2048 DMX Pixels. Compared with the T1+, the T2+ has two independent physical 5-pin XLR DMX outputs and an additional audio input for LTC (Linear Time Code), compatible with both Titan and Prism for perfect time synchronization. When using Titan, the T2+ also supports USB MIDI devices for external music activation and control.

Finally, we come to the T3 Bundle system. The T3, as we know, is one of the most popular Avolites consoles, appreciated for the power and immediate control it offers in an extremely compact format. Although it remains essentially a Titan device, it will be available in a new bundle called T3 Bundle, which will include an AvoKey A3+ key, thus offering three video outputs up to a resolution of 8K and 4096 DMX Pixels from Prism, equivalent to 32 DMX universes. This update allows the T3 to fully integrate into the new Prism system, while maintaining its identity as a compact and powerful console.

Conclusions

In over 50 years the lighting sector has changed enormously, but looking at the next chapter, Avolites’ mission remains clear: to work with creative professionals and provide them with the tools they need to push boundaries, tell stories and create memorable experiences.

The recently introduced innovations - from the Prism platform to the new AvoKey collection, through the evolution of the Travel series - represent a concrete step in this direction, offering a more integrated, powerful and accessible ecosystem designed to meet the needs of modern productions and to accompany users toward new expressive possibilities.
