Last February, the service provider Niutek was responsible for the supply and technical video installation of the EVOLUTIO exhibition, hosted at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan and open to the public until April 7. The creative concept and content development were carried out by the client and its agency.

To enhance an exhibition path dedicated to 120 years of ingenuity and major infrastructure achievements, Niutek installed a series of ultra-high-definition LED walls composed of 660 EGO Display EasyCOB G2 P1.5 panels, managed through a Novastar H Series controller. A semi-permanent installation of this scale requires impeccable image quality to deliver an immersive experience capable of integrating historical photographs, exclusive video footage, and impactful multimedia content.

EVOLUTIO is an immersive journey guiding visitors through more than a century of innovation and infrastructure development. The exhibition features themed rooms, multimedia installations, and audiovisual content to illustrate how major works highways, bridges, railways, and tunnels have contributed to the development of Italy and the world.

To deliver the technical implementation of the exhibition project, Niutek—a Rome-based company founded in 2018 by four partners with diverse expertise in the events industry and a client of Audio Effetti—developed a large-scale installation including multiple ultra-high-resolution LED walls, central elements of the overall exhibition experience.

The challenge

The technical installation required a combination of extremely high image quality and continuous operational reliability. The use of LED panels with a very fine pixel pitch was essential to allow visitors to view content at close range while ensuring uniform and highly detailed visual performance.

The exhibition features complex video content with smooth transitions, fine details, and significant data flow, requiring a control system capable of managing large amounts of information without latency. In addition, installation inside a historic museum demanded precise integration within the architectural space, maintaining full coherence with the exhibition environment.

The solution

To meet these technical requirements, Niutek selected 660 EGO Display EasyCOB G2 P1.5 panels, a solution based on high-definition COB LED technology, particularly suited to museum installations and immersive environments.

The 1.5 mm pixel pitch enables optimal viewing from as close as 1.5–2 meters, a distance at which the human eye can no longer distinguish individual pixels, resulting in a perfectly uniform and seamless image. Beyond resolution, additional factors were carefully evaluated, including brightness, color accuracy at close viewing distances, wide viewing angles, and visual comfort during prolonged observation.

The LED panels were configured in various layouts, ranging from simple rectangular walls to more complex “bridge” structures, with LED surfaces installed above visitors’ heads.

Content management was handled by Novastar H Series controllers, ensuring high processing power and precise synchronization. The integration between EasyCOB panels and the Novastar platform enabled the creation of high-performance, reliable, and easily manageable subsystems.

The results

An LED installation of this magnitude plays a decisive role in the success of an immersive experience such as EVOLUTIO. Visitors can fully engage with historical and contemporary content, experiencing cinematic-level image quality as they move through the exhibition rooms and decades of technological progress.

As Daniele Cola, Project Manager at Niutek, stated: “The EasyCOB G2 P1.5 proved to be the ideal choice for a museum installation of this level. The definition is outstanding, color performance equally impressive, and management through the Novastar H Series allowed us to achieve highly precise and reliable results. A technical solution fully aligned with the requirements of an immersive project like EVOLUTIO.”
