Wireless video transmission has become a central element of modern production workflows, helping to free sets from cables and making the work of camera operators, directors and technical crews more fluid and efficient. High-end portable TX/RX systems now offer a combination of image quality, extended range and flexibility that would have been unthinkable only a few years ago. Lower latency, increased transmission distances and integration with mobile devices have turned these tools into valuable assets for film productions, live events, streaming applications and documentary work. This article explores the key technical challenges manufacturers have had to address and the solutions developed in response, before focusing on the new Accsoon CineView SE 4K, whose strengths include 4K transmission and remote camera control.
Portable wireless audio/video transmission systems represent just one part of a much broader landscape, which also includes solutions designed for broadcast applications, long-distance radio links, IP-based systems, infrastructures for complex events and integrated platforms for mobile production units.
Based on dual-band digital transmission, these systems are portable, lightweight and genuinely plug-and-play. Their purpose is clear: to provide a stable signal that can be viewed immediately by camera operators, focus pullers, DITs (the technicians responsible for managing data and image workflows on set) and production-control teams, while prioritising portability, fast setup and full compatibility with mobile devices.
They almost always operate in the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands—the same frequencies used by Wi-Fi—which do not require licences, allow for smaller and lighter devices, and offer a good balance of range, stability and low latency. However, they are also more susceptible to interference in crowded environments.
In recent years, this category has transformed the way crews work on set. Where HDMI or SDI cables were once needed to connect the camera to production monitors, it is now possible to send a high-quality wireless signal directly to monitors, tablets, smartphones or mobile production setups. The result is a faster, tidier and, above all, more flexible workflow: camera operators can move freely without being restricted by cables, while production teams can monitor the shot from anywhere on set. And this is no longer limited to film production. Corporate events, live productions, streaming, ENG and documentary work also benefit from lightweight, reliable solutions that are easy to integrate into existing workflows.
How wireless AV systems work
As explained in our article last year, a wireless video transmission system is based on a pair of devices: a transmitter connected to the camera and a receiver connected to the monitor or destination device. The video signal is compressed, transmitted wirelessly and reconstructed in real time on the monitoring device. The key challenge is maintaining the right balance between image quality, signal stability and latency, as any noticeable delay can affect operational accuracy.
Latency is one of the most critical factors. In modern professional systems, it is generally kept below 50 milliseconds, allowing for near-real-time monitoring. Range is equally important: the most advanced systems can reach several hundred metres under optimal conditions, while maintaining good stability even in congested RF environments thanks to the combined use of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
Video quality is another key factor. Most systems operate in Full HD, but more recent solutions, such as the Accsoon CineView SE 4K discussed later in this article, also support 4K transmission. This is made possible by efficient codecs such as H.265, which can deliver high image quality while keeping bitrate requirements under control.
Why choose a professional wireless transmission system?
Adopting this type of system brings several advantages. The first is freedom of movement: camera operators can work without having to manage cables, while the production team can position itself wherever it is most practical. Setup is also faster, as there are fewer physical connections to handle. In addition, many systems support simultaneous monitoring on multiple devices, making coordination easier for larger crews or teams working across wide areas.
Another increasingly important aspect is integration with mobile devices. Tablets and smartphones have become reliable monitoring tools, particularly thanks to dedicated apps offering advanced functions such as false colour, waveform monitoring, focus peaking and much more.
Accsoon solutions
Accsoon is one of the most dynamic brands in the portable wireless video transmission market. Available from Audio Effetti, the CineView series is designed to offer a balanced combination of performance, compact dimensions and accessibility.
Accsoon systems stand out for their signal stability, low latency, compatibility with the Accsoon SEE app and the ability to monitor multiple devices simultaneously, both through wired and wireless connections.
Within the range, the new CineView SE 4K represents a significant step forward, introducing features that expand the system’s role within the workflow. It is designed not only for monitoring, but also for operational camera control.
Accsoon CineView SE 4K: a new level of integration
Introduced by Accsoon at NAB in Las Vegas in February 2026, CineView SE 4K brings UHD transmission to the SE range, together with a set of features designed to reshape on-set workflows. Its most notable innovation is the ability to transmit a 4K signal at 30 fps end to end, while maintaining very low latency and a range of up to 400 metres, with less than 50 ms of delay in 1080p.
This makes the system suitable for productions that demand higher image quality, without sacrificing the practicality of a compact kit.
From a transmission standpoint, CineView SE 4K uses a dual-band 2.4 + 5 GHz system combined with Accsoon’s proprietary RTMS 4.0 protocol, designed to maintain a stable connection even in RF-congested environments such as concerts or multi-camera sets.
The H.265 codec ensures an efficient video stream and higher image quality at the same bitrate, while twelve bitrate levels allow signal quality to be adjusted according to the requirements of each production.
The mobile workflow has also been further enhanced. The system features a USB-C video output on both the transmitter and receiver, allowing users to monitor via a wired connection with zero latency while charging the mobile device at the same time. Wired and wireless monitoring can be combined for up to five devices in total (1 wired + 4 wireless), a particularly useful feature for fast-paced sets or smaller crews.
In addition to the features already mentioned, CineView SE 4K includes a range of elements that make it particularly versatile:
- HDMI and SDI inputs on the transmitter, with loop-through and support for up to 4K 30 via HDMI and 1080p 60 via SDI
- SDI and HDMI outputs on the receiver, with the option to use USB-C as a third video output
- Replaceable antennas, allowing the system to be adapted to applications with different coverage requirements
- Passive cooling, eliminating fan noise and contributing to long-term reliability
- Compatibility with NP-F batteries and 7.4 to 16.8 VDC power input, well suited to lightweight rigs or shoulder-mounted configurations
- A low weight of just 245 g and a minimalist design, developed not to unbalance the camera and to withstand intensive use on set
The system integrates effectively with the Accsoon ecosystem, including CineView M7H Pro monitors and CineView Master 4K and Master 4K Lite receivers, creating a scalable platform that can grow alongside the requirements of each production.
Wireless camera control for Canon Cinema and Nikon
One of the most significant innovations introduced by Accsoon with CineView SE 4K is the addition of wireless camera control. The system allows users to adjust parameters such as shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, aperture and white balance directly from the monitoring interface, while also supporting touch autofocus and bidirectional record triggering.
This integration brings CineView SE 4K closer to becoming an operational control tool, as it allows users to adjust camera settings without interrupting the camera operator’s work.
The connection process is extremely straightforward: the camera is linked to the transmitter via USB-C using the dedicated cable supplied by Accsoon. Once the physical connection has been established, the Accsoon SEE app automatically detects the camera model and enables the compatible controls. From that point onwards, all adjustments can be made wirelessly from the mobile device, without the need to touch the camera itself.
Initially limited to a small number of Sony and Canon mirrorless models, this feature has now been extended to a much wider range of cinema cameras and mirrorless cameras, including the Sony FX6, Canon C70, C80 and C400, as well as the Nikon Z6, Z7 and Z8. As mentioned, the workflow is immediate: by connecting a mobile device to the transmitter via Wi-Fi and opening the Accsoon SEE app, users can access an integrated control panel directly within the monitoring interface. From there, they can adjust shutter speed, ISO and aperture, and even use tap-to-focus directly from the tablet or smartphone screen.
Another particularly useful on-set feature is bidirectional record triggering: starting recording from the camera can simultaneously trigger recording on all connected devices, and vice versa. Each operator can decide whether to enable this function on their own device, making the workflow highly flexible and collaborative.
This development turns CineView SE 4K from a simple video transmission system into a comprehensive operational tool, capable of simplifying the work of camera operators, focus pullers and camera assistants, especially in lightweight, run-and-gun or multi-camera setups.
Conclusions
Wireless video transmission has become an essential component of any modern workflow. The ability to work without cables, monitor across multiple devices and maintain high image quality has transformed the way crews operate on set. With a philosophy focused on practicality and innovation, Accsoon offers solutions that respond effectively to the requirements of contemporary productions.
In particular, the new CineView SE 4K marks an important step forward: not only 4K transmission, but also remote camera control, multi-device monitoring and advanced integration with mobile devices.
