At a prestigious medical conference promoted by Novartis, held at the Salone delle Fontane in Rome during the second week of June, Tecnomedit selected the Pixelhue Q8 as the presentation switcher. This powerful modular device proved to be the ideal solution for managing complex and dynamic content in an intuitive way throughout the event, demonstrating how such advanced technology can seamlessly adapt to the specific needs of the medical sector.
The conference Radioligand therapy changes the prostatic cancer treatment, organized by Novartis, a global pharmaceutical company that develops high-value therapies to tackle the world’s most serious diseases, represented a pivotal moment of discussion and innovation within the field of oncological research. Tecnomedit, a Naples-based company specializing in multimedia communication technologies and a client of Audio Effetti, was entrusted with the technical management of the video system and relied on the Pixelhue Q8 to ensure impeccable visual quality and absolute flexibility in live production.
The challenge
An event of such high scientific profile demanded not only precision in content delivery but also absolute reliability throughout the sessions. The technical team needed to manage multiple video sources, presentations, interactive content, and live feeds coming from a wide variety of devices. The venue, spacious and architecturally striking, required flawless video projection on a horizontally developed LED wall that spanned almost the entire width of the hall.
The solution
Tecnomedit opted for the Q8, Pixelhue’s presentation switcher renowned for its versatility and processing power. Specifically designed for event and conference management, it was the perfect fit for the requirements of the occasion.
The system supports up to 48 4K inputs and 16 simultaneous 4K outputs, offering a total capacity of 72 input connectors and 64 outputs. With 32 mixable video layers, it enables seamless transitions and advanced visual control. Available connectors include HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2, 12G-SDI, and SFP25G (ST2110), allowing transmission of video, audio, and control data over IP networks. The device can also transmit video signals over fiber optic up to 10 km without converters, using the NovaStar controller. Operational management is ensured by the dedicated PixelFlow software.
On the audio side, the matrix supports Dante 64 x 64 networking with de-embedding and embedding on every connector. Last but not least, signal processing is based on FPGA architecture with ultra-low latency and full support for major color space and HDCP standards.
The results
The Pixelhue Q8 delivered outstanding performance, greatly simplifying the technical direction of the event. Tecnomedit expressed their full satisfaction:“Q8 was the perfect match for us, as we needed multiple pixels across many outputs... We used around 16 matrix inputs between SDI, HDMI, and DisplayPort. The DSK works very well, and overall matrix management was intuitive and practical... Despite the scale of the event, the device was used at only about 25% of its real potential. Truly an excellent product...”
