Explo and Sparkular on stage with Gigi D’Agostino

On August 1st, the scenic Piazza Grande in Palmanova (UD), the Friulian city famous for its star-shaped layout,  was transformed into a multisensory arena during the concert of renowned DJ Gigi D’Agostino, thanks to a stunning array of high-level effects. Explo and Sparkular machines, distributed by Audio Effetti and supplied by SPECIAL FX PRO, turned the stage into a pulsating organism that captivated the audience with rotating fire columns and vertical spark effects perfectly synchronized with the music.

The challenge

The production had a clear goal: to enhance a unique urban setting, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, by transforming it into a powerful immersive stage. This challenge was embraced by SPECIAL FX PRO, the Vicenza-based rental company specializing in scenic and special effects for the entertainment industry since the early 2000s. The team successfully combined visual power, safety, and full respect for such a prestigious and delicate historic venue.

The solution

To achieve the desired result, 32 effect machines were deployed, divided into two categories:

• Explo X2 Wave Flamer: 6 front units and 6 placed on the sides of the stage, capable of producing flames with variable direction thanks to their movable head with ±105° tilt.

• 24 Sparkular Jet II: devices generating spectacular vertical bursts of high-intensity cold sparks.

The combined use of both technologies ensured perfect synchronization between music and effects, creating a powerful and safe visual language.

The results

At the end of the show, Fiore, owner as well as Production & Operator Manager of SPECIAL FX PRO, stated: “Bringing this level of spectacle to a historic square like Palmanova was both an honor and a technical challenge. The synchronization between music and effects was flawless, and the audience responded with great enthusiasm. Once again, stage technology proved its ability to dialogue with architecture and music, creating a truly unique experience.”

Conclusions

Thanks to the integration of flames and Sparkular effects, Piazza Grande was transformed into a pulsating organism capable of amplifying the power of music through striking visual impressions. A concrete example of how the latest-generation scenic solutions distributed by Audio Effetti can enhance high-profile live events, combining visual impact, safety, and respect for the venue.
