Introduction

TU20 Pro is a playback control processor for LED walls; it integrates Android 11, support for third-party Apps, powerful interaction tools and playback control, as well as sending card functionality in a single device. It is capable of supporting up to 4096 pixels horizontally and 1920 pixels vertically.

There is also a virtually identical model, but with a lower capacity, the TU15 Pro, which has four RJ45 output ports instead of six. You can compare the two units here

What does it look like?

The processor is very spartan in appearance and quite compact in size: it measures only 211.7×50.6 mm. There are no controls on the front panel, except for the power button, and one USB 2.0 port that supports a mouse, a keyboard, a pen drive for reading media files (images and videos), and other common USB devices. As we shall see, in fact, the TU20 Pro not only functions as a processor but also as a media player, and thus as a source.

There are several options for installation – wall-mounted, surface-mounted or rack-mounted (rack ears are included) – allowing for quick set-up and simple integration into the environment.

The rear panel is decidedly more “crowded”:

  • 2 HDMI 1.3 inputs that support a maximum resolution of 2048×1152 @ 60 Hz with a frame rate of 30/50/60 Hz
  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • 6 RJ45 outputs for direct connection to LED displays, with a loading capacity of up to 3.9 Mpixels (with scaling enabled)
  • 1 HDMI 1.3 output (1080p)
  • A pair of audio outputs – one analogue via 3.5 mm mini-jack, and one SPDIF digital output

The unit can be controlled in various ways:

  • Via an Ethernet port (from a PC running the NovaLCT software)
  • Via RS232 on a 4-pin Phoenix connector
  • IR IN/OUT, on a 6-pin Phoenix connector (supports the self-learning functions of the remote control, activation of various functions by means of programming)
  • A relay for on/off control of the connected device

There is also a SENSOR port to connect to a light or temperature sensor.

Finally, there are three antennas for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The dual Wi-Fi mode allows Wi-Fi and wireless hotspot connections simultaneously!

Everything you need in one device

The TU20 Pro integrates an LED control unit and source in a single unit, all of which can be remotely controlled via Bluetooth and voice recognition.

The processor is equipped with an industry-leading image quality enhancement algorithm, allowing for microscopic detail; contrast, colour and detail can be adjusted to produce a bright, rich and sharp image.

However, it is in terms of control that the TU20 Pro leaps ahead of the competition. Being a fully Plug & Play unit, it does not – as mentioned – require a PC upstream, as multimedia content can be played from a USB drive, controlled via the Smart Control App or using the supplied remote control, which allows control of local programme playback and simple on-screen programme editing. This is also possible by installing the aforementioned App on a smartphone.

The device also supports wireless screen mirroring from Windows, macOS, iOS and Android devices, a function that is very useful for collaboration during meetings and conferences as well as in academic settings.

For 1080p video, the mirroring performance is up to 60 fps with a system latency of no more than 80 ms at 8 m, and is stable for at least 72 hours without the risk of connection loss. For various application scenarios, it offers four modes for document presentation, video playback and remote meetings.

With Wireless Speech mode, participants in a meeting can speak directly through the microphone of the connected device and their voice will be transmitted wirelessly to the audio system of the LED display.

In short, the NovaStar TU20 Pro is packed with capabilities like LED control, video processing, media player functions and human interfacing (useful for conferences). It is compatible with devices often used in meetings such as video cameras, audio systems and laser pointers. Flexible and convenient, it allows users to easily manage LED displays and applications with one device.

Conference and congress halls, corporate exhibition halls, upscale retail, shopping centres and advertising are among its typical applications.
