For the 2026 edition of the “Uno Maggio Libero e Pensante” Concert in Taranto, one of the most important music events in Southern Italy, Crew Lapesa created the entire video scenography for the main stage using Yes Tech MT P3.9-7.8 transparent LED panels.
The event, hosted at the Parco Archeologico delle Mura Greche, attracts thousands of people every year and combines music, social commitment and themes related to labour, the environment and civil rights, featuring both national and international artists.
Managing a production of this scale — characterised by a large stage, intense ambient light and the need to ensure maximum visibility even from long distances — meant that the video component played a central role. Crew Lapesa, a company based in the Taranto area and specialised in live entertainment, concerts and television productions, selected Yes Tech MT P3.9-7.8 for its lightweight structure, transparency and high brightness, features particularly suited to large-format outdoor scenography.
The entire video system was managed through four Novastar VX1000 processors, used for signal control and content processing throughout more than ten consecutive hours of live show.
The challenge
The technical production of the Primo Maggio concert in Taranto involves particularly demanding requirements. The event takes place entirely outdoors and in full daylight, under conditions of intense ambient brightness and continuously changing natural light, making it essential to use an LED system capable of maintaining high readability and colour consistency in every situation.
The size of the stage also required large video surfaces without compromising the stability of the structure or excessively increasing suspended loads. In an outdoor environment such as the Parco Archeologico delle Mura Greche, wind also becomes a key factor in the overall system design.
The video scenography also needed to integrate seamlessly with the stage architecture, characterised by numerous truss structures, while preserving visual depth and a lightweight aesthetic. In this context, the use of transparent LED panels proved essential in reducing wind load and contributing to the overall stability of the installation.
These requirements were combined with the need to ensure operational continuity throughout more than ten consecutive hours of live show, including dynamic content, graphics, live camera feeds and television and streaming broadcast distribution. The selected solution therefore had to combine strong scenic presence, reliability, fast installation and ease of management throughout every stage of the event.
The solution
To meet the production requirements, Crew Lapesa created the entire video scenography using Yes Tech MT P3.9-7.8 panels, configured across seven main LED surfaces.
The setup included:
- two side totems measuring 3.5 × 6 metres dedicated to live video feeds and streaming connections;
- one central LED wall measuring 6 × 4 metres;
- four vertical LED walls measuring 3 × 7 metres.
The installation also included an additional 8 × 4.5 metre screen positioned behind the FOH control area, approximately 70 metres from the stage, used to display close-up shots and ensure visual coverage across the entire event area.
In total, approximately 200 LED panels were used.
The Yes Tech MT P3.9-7.8 cabinets, featuring a 1000 × 500 mm format and weighing only 7.5 kg, made it possible to create large video surfaces while significantly reducing structural loads. The combination of low weight, transparency and high brightness enabled the production to achieve a strong scenic presence without overloading the stage structure.
The IP65 protection rating ensured full reliability in outdoor conditions, while the cabinet design simplified installation operations, optimising setup times and on-site management.
The LED walls were flown using dedicated fly bars, with each surface requiring two 250 kg hoists. Thanks to the lightweight cabinet design, the entire installation was completed using a total of 18 chain hoists.
For video control, four Novastar VX1000 Pro all-in-one controllers were used, combining signal processing and video management within a single integrated solution.
