The art of high-resolution viewing for the rental market

Audio Effetti would like to focus today on the MG6S series, and especially on the model with a 1.9 pixel pitch, a high-end, high-resolution rental display for indoor use that can make your show or presentation unique.

A high-resolution indoor LED display is the ideal product for creating LED walls for high-quality content display in corporate presentations, conferences, trade exhibitions, live events and indoor concerts, award ceremonies, advertising or information in commercial facilities, as well as in television broadcasting and post-production, where dynamic backgrounds, sky curtains and real-time graphics can be generated.

A multitude of applications where, thanks to the tight pixel pitch, the minimum viewing distance can also be relatively close. In the case of a P1.9 display, such as Yes Tech’s MG6S P1.9, this is about 1.9 m for a Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels); at this distance individual pixels will not be visible to the naked eye. There is also a recommended viewing distance, greater than the minimum, which can be considered to be about three to four times that of the diagonal of the LED wall. In any case, the rule always applies that the denser the pixels, the sharper and, above all, more detailed the images.

Looking now specifically at what key features such an LED display should have, apart from the reduced pixel pitch and regardless of the brand, we might list the following points:

  • LED technology capable of guaranteeing the highest image quality, in terms of contrast and colour brilliance, greyscale, etc.
  • Colour consistency to avoid colour variations between LED modules and a brightness appropriate to the type of application
  • Durability, to withstand the toughest operating conditions
  • The lowest possible power consumption
  • Reduced weight, facilitating the assembly of the cabinets even in suspended positions, as well as their transport
  • A high degree of modularity, for flexible and rapid assembly of multiple units to create LED walls of the desired size and shape
  • Front and rear access, to simplify maintenance and replacement of LED modules inside the cabinet

Well, Yes Tech MG6S P1.9 has all the features to satisfy these requirements, and more! Let’s look at how...

Unique LED technology

The MG6S P1.9 utilises custom-made 4-in-1 30 x 30 SMD LEDs (corresponding to a 3 x 3 mm SMD area), together with HDR, to achieve an 18+ bit greyscale. Employing this technology, where each pixel is four LEDs in one, optimises colour consistency and colour rendition.

The consistency of the display is better than those with GOB (Glue-On-Board) and COB (Chip-On-Board) technology. The contrast ratio also reaches a remarkable 10,000:1 thanks to the use of full black LEDs.

The end result? A more natural perception of colours, better colour consistency and, in general, a higher viewing quality where more detail emerges, even in poorly lit environments.

In terms of luminance, on the other hand, Yes Tech claims a value of 500 to 700 nits for the MG6S P1.9, making it suitable for indoor LED walls in shopping centres, conference rooms, hotels, transit areas in general, TV studios, etc.

Unrivalled durability

When the pixel pitch is so small, as in this case, the greatest challenge is related to the stability of the LEDs. To overcome this issue, Yes Tech has adopted the aforementioned SMD 4-in-1, which is much more stable and durable than normal LEDs. Suffice it to say a single LED can resist 60 or 70 N of force, corresponding to about 6-7 kg!

The anti-collision capability has also been improved. That of the LEDs has been increased by 60%, while the rate of failed components has been reduced by 70%!

Finally, a small construction detail: a protection system was added to the cabinet for the corner LEDs, which are more vulnerable.

We can therefore conclude that MG6S P1.9 adopts the most reliable and stable SMD solution for high-resolution rental products.

Optimal heat dissipation, low power consumption, high efficiency

The problem of heat dissipation is a major concern for all modular LED display manufacturers.

For Yes Tech on the MG6S P1.9 employs common cathode technology.

This technology guarantees a maximum power consumption of only 85 W per cabinet, with the average value being as low as 28 W.

The patented heat conduction balancing system helps to disperse the heat of each IC and LED evenly in order to speed up heat dissipation and make the image more stable and smooth, while also extending the life of the modules. It can provide a temperature reduction of up to 3 to 4 °C.

Reduced weight

The advantages of reduced weight for rental LED walls are undeniable. The use of a nano-technology polymer in the construction of the cabinet helps bring the weight down to 6.7 kg for a 500×500 mm unit.

With these slim (73 mm) and lightweight cabinets, it is possible to safely construct sky curtains.

When modularity combines with flexibility

The distinctive cabinet design is unquestionably one of the strong points of this LED display. It is completely modular and cable-free, i.e. without interconnecting cables, except for power and signal input cables, which are of course necessary.

The following image shows the rear; note the simplicity and cleanliness of the assembly.

The central part of the cabinet, which allows access to the power supply and receiving card, is protected by a metal cover that can be removed by simply lifting four tabs. A pair of elastic ties allows the two cables (power and signal) to be routed around for a neat and tidy installation.

Special connectors are used to connect the cabinets one to another quickly and easily, and to allow the LED wall to assume a wide variety of shapes:

... including concave and convex curves, S-shapes, etc. Note that the rotation of the connectors has been improved to further facilitate assembly and disassembly.

And, if that is still not enough, thanks to the MG Creative Extended panel series, which can also be coupled with the MG6S series, you can create whatever shape you require.

Front and rear maintenance access for maximum flexibility

There is no doubt that flexible maintenance makes using LED screens more user-friendly. By using professional maintenance systems, such as the Electric Chuck Sucker to remove modules, Yes Tech MG6S P1.9 facilitates on-site maintenance.

Finally, if necessary, the cabinet can be completely replaced within the entire LED wall.
